Skylander Meme

Full disclosure - I freaking love Skylanders. I love collecting figures, I love video games, I love games where you level up and can pick specs and stuff, I love interesting creatures, I love cartoony style-graphics, I LOVE SKYLANDERS. I was originally skeptical of the game because the toys could have easily been these chintzy things but I actually find them to be of really good quality and they have very nice detail (I exclusively used the figures as the source for these pictures and didn't look up any other refs). I have loads of favorites, so much that I contemplated filling this out twice because it was a tough call for some of these! I tend to like the characters aesthetically rather than because they're good in the game (although that helps), I'm the same way with pokemon - I like the pokemon I like and I don't care so much if they're not "the best", I'll use them anyway.

Anywho, from top to bottom, left to right:
Undead - Cynder. Undead is pretty tough because overall I just think they're "OK". It was between Cynder and Ghost Roaster and I eventually settled on Cynder.
Life - Zook! I had a hard time choosing between Camo and Zook but I had to go with Zook because he just looks so fun to draw! He's like a humanoid bamboo tree, how could he not? I also enjoy playing him and raising a ton of bamboo trees to walk through because I'm easily entertained.
Fire - To be honest, I'm rather underwhelmed by the Fire elementals. With the exception of Sunburn (the one I drew), none of them are very interesting to me (too human-like!). Eruptor is OK but he plays like butt. I may like the other two more if I played them but I don't own either of them yet. Sunburn is neat, though, dragon/phoenix hybrid.
Water - Gill Grunt! He was my immediate favorite right out of the box (since he's one of the first three you get). He's a fish-man with a water gun and this clueless fishy face, its too cute XD Although it WAS tough to pick him over Zap who I also love but I had to go with Gill Grunt because he's probably the character I play as most (although I try to rotate them to level them equally)
Air - Really REALLY tough call between Warnado, Whirlwind, and Sonic Boom but I had to give it to Warnado because I really love the design of the figure (he's mid-spin, suspended above his base by a whirlwind. It looks really neat). I kind of regretted that when coloring him and realizing his shell and claws have a metallic sort of sheen which is really hard to replicate XP
Earth - This was the hardest choice of them all! Earth element has my favorite skylanders of all. Bash is adorable (I love his little waddle when he walks), Terrafin is awesome (he's a land shark, no question he's awesome), and I even love Prism Break's design although I've yet to get him. But I had to give it to Dino-Rang because even before I got the game and I was looking at the characters to make note of which ones I wanted I IMMEDIATELY wanted Dino-Rang. A dinosaur with boomerangs!
Magic - Wrecking Ball! Magic was a tough one to place too, Spyro is nice but not my favorite and Double Trouble does have an awesome design (Voodood looks awesome but I don't have him yet!). Wrecking Ball is impossibly adorable though and I just really really wanted to draw him XD
Tech - Drobot! It was really just between Drobot and Trigger Happy for Tech but Drobot is a tech-savy dragon who couldn't fly so he crafted his own mechanical wings. That's too bad-ass not to pick.

This was really, really fun to do. I'm really tempted to do that Pokemon favorites meme now XD
